1. Em vídeo inédito divulgado hoje pelas redes sociais, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva falou sobre como atuou durante oito anos como presidente do Brasil. Numa das passagens, disse: “A minha preocupação sempre foi fazer com que as pessoas mais humildes não me vissem como presidente, mas me vissem como um deles exercendo o cargo”. O vídeo foi gravado na sede do Sindicato dos Metalúrgicos do ABC, em São Bernardo do Campo (SP), poucos dias antes de Lula ser preso arbitrariamente e levado para Curitiba (PR). Outros vídeos serão divulgados nos próximos dias para mostrar suas ideias sobre o Brasil, já que a juíza Carolina Lebbos, atropelando as leis, o proibiu de participar de eventos eleitorais ou mesmo de conceder entrevistas. 2. Foi iniciada hoje, em todo o País, uma série de atos em defesa de Lula e do seu direito de disputar o cargo de presidente da República. Organizados pelo PT e diversas entidades sindicais e movimentos sociais, os atos serviram também para denunciar a perseguição judicial contra Lula, preso político em Curitiba a partir de uma condenação arbitrária do juiz Sérgio Moro. Os atos “Dia Nacional de Lula – Lula Livre” deram início a uma programação que segue até o dia 15 de agosto, quando a legenda vai registrar a candidatura de Lula à Presidência, em Brasília, com a presença de milhares de pessoas na capital federal.
3. As imediações da sede do Tribunal Regional Federal da 4º Região, em Porto Alegre, foram palco ao longo de toda a tarde de hoje de uma manifestação pela liberdade de Lula. Parte da programação nacional de luta que ocorreu nesta sexta-feira, o ato contou com a presença, entre outras pessoas, dos deputados federais Henrique Fontana (PT-RS), Maria do Rosário (PT-RS) e Pepe Vargas (PT-RS) e o presidente nacional da CUT, Wagner Freitas. Todos eles cobraram do Supremo Tribunal Federal um posicionamento sobre os desmandos do juiz Sérgio Moro, que, em plenas férias e sem ter jurisdição sobre o processo, manobrou para impedir que fosse cumprida uma ordem judicial que garantia a liberdade para Lula.
4. Em Curitiba, a Vigília #LulaLivre teve uma sexta-feira repleta de atividades. Logo após o bom dia ao ex-presidente, o líder sindical Raimundo Domingos, do Sindicato dos Metalúrgicos do ABC, comandou uma roda de conversa sobre organização popular para a luta política. No início da tarde, jornalistas do coletivo Mídia Ninja promoveram um debate com o tema “Comunicação, Luta e Fotografia”. Depois, às 16h, a médica pediatra e sanitarista Joice Aragão conduziu debate sobre “Saúde da População Negra no período dos Governos Lula e Dilma”.
5. Enquanto no Brasil a perseguição de setores do Judiciário e Ministério Público a Lula fica cada vez mais clara, pelo mundo afora as manifestações de solidariedade e apoio à liberdade do ex-presidente crescem. Na Venezuela, a Assembleia Nacional Constituinte se manifestou em favor da libertação imediata de Lula. Hoje, em Portugal, houve ato em defesa de Lula e de sua libertação, enquanto em Londres, em protesto gigante contra a visita do presidente dos EUA, Donald Trump, manifestantes levaram várias faixas e cartazes com a inscrição #FreeLula.

1. In a never before seen video released in the social media today, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva speaks about how he performed as President of Brazil for 8 years. In one of the scenes he says, “My priority was always to do things in a way that the poorest people did not see me as a president but as one of them, performing the job.” The video was recorded in the ABC Metallurgical Workers Union headquarters in São Bernardo do Campo, São Paulo, a few days before he was arbitrarily imprisoned and taken to Curitiba, Paraná. Other videos which will be released in the next few days that will show his ideas about Brazil, since judge Carolina Lebbos is illegally barring him from participating in electoral events or even conducting interviews. 2. This afternoon a series of acts were held all over the country in defense of Lula and his right to run for the office of President of the Republic. Organized by PT and different labor unions and social movements, the acts were also held to denounce the judicial persecution against Lula, who is detained as a political prisoner in Curitiba based on an arbitrary ruling by judge Sergio Moro. The demonstrations, called “National Day of Lula – Free Lula”, mark the beginning of a protest schedule which will continue until August 15th , when Lula will be registered as candidate for the Presidency, in Brasilia, with thousands of people on the streets of the capital.
3. This afternoon the area in front of the Fourth Regional Federal Court (TRF-4) in Porto Alegre became the stage for a demonstration for freedom for Lula. As part of national struggle events that took place today, Congressmen and Congresswomen Henrique Fontana (PT-Rio Grande do Sul), Maria do Rosario (PT-Rio Grande do Sul) and Pepe Vargas (PT-Rio Grande do Sul) along with CUT labor union federation national President Wagner Freitas took part in the demonstration. They all demanded that the Federal Supreme Court take a position on the counter orders of Judge Sergio Moro, who, in the middle of his vacation, with no jurisdiction over the case, maneuvered to block a release order that guaranteed freedom for Lula.
4. In Curitiba, the #LulaLivre Vigil had a Friday full of activities. Immediately following the “good morning yell” to the ex-President, Raimundo Domingos, union leader from the ABC Metallurgical Workers Union led a public discussion about popular organizing for political struggle. After lunch journalists from the Midia Ninja collective held a debate called, “Communication, struggle and photography”. At 4 PM, Joice Aragão, a pediatrician and hygiene specialist led a debate called, “Health of the Black Population during the Lula and Dilma governments.”
5. While the persecution against Lula in Brazil by sectors of the judiciary and public prosecutors office becomes clearer and clearer, the protests in solidarity and in support for freedom for the ex-President are growing around the world. In Venezuela, the National Constituent Assembly manifested in favor of the immediate release of Lula. Today in Portugal, there was an act in defense of Lula and his release, while in London, during a gigantic protest against US President Donald Trump’s visit, many protesters held signs and banners with the phrase #FreeLula.”
