Note on Palocci: Yet another attempt to incriminate Lula without any evidence

The Workers Party (PT) rejects the information provided by former Minister Antonio Palocci before the Curitiba 13th Federal District Court this Wednesday (Sept 6). The deposition is just another attempt by Car Wash Task Force to incriminate former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva without submitting any evidence, based merely on denunciations with no legal value. The political persecution nature of actions perpetrated by sectors of Justice against the PT has become increasingly more apparent.
Palocci had already testified in May this year, and had denied all charges, repeating the strategy of other accusers like Delcídio do Amaral and Léo Pinheiro, who went back on their depositions seeking shorter sentences, after having been incarcerated for a long time.
What is striking is that, once again, these accusations are made on the eve of another deposition by Lula before the Curitiba 13th Federal District Court. The PT expresses its solidarity with former President Lula, who over the past years has had his life exposed and yet not a sign of personal enrichment has ever been found that might stain his name. The increased pressure on Lula takes place at a moment when he leads all 2018 presidential election polls and after his successful bus tour ‘caravan’ across the Northeast.
